it’s moreso that every tech company has market pressure to present themselves as AI forward right now, regardless of how much that actually pertains to their work

they design CPU architecture, which is used for AI, but also: everything else. (such as the new steam hardware)

if this collaboration leads to better support for Arm architecture, that’s a win. but it’s just a financial contribution that gives them very little sway in the direction of the engine

i’m not sure you know what Arm does

you gotta get to an underscores show sometime

i get annoyed when people say something along the lines of “X game won game of the year” and “at the geoff keighley game awards” is just implied. there’s lots of game of the year awards, the geoff awards is not definitive
November 17, 2025 at 5:13 PM
there’s some fun to be had in watching the show but caring about the actual awards too much is dumb
November 17, 2025 at 5:13 PM
ok i beat it and i'm not tilted anymore. that was a magical experience

aaaaaa i have prior engagements tomorrow… sad to miss this. arts at the armory is a cool venue
November 10, 2025 at 7:10 PM
so rad… i’m sort of surprised they don’t tour with a live drummer

the secrets in this game are really nice. just cute little things that they want you to find, usually by testing the bounds of the camera. one could imagine a version of this game with much more hostile secrets, but this is kirby! they want you to enjoy exploring the world

the fixed angles let them do very deliberate framing of level objects, bringing certain things in and out of focus. this is mostly used to guide the player, but it also allows fun secrets and surprising moments.

camera’s effectively fixed in place, so they do all sorts of tricks to make aiming projectiles “just work”. there’s a lot of angle cheating but sometimes things will hit that really shouldn’t. the effect ends up very kind to the player.
