There's also been a drop in snapshots of U.S. government website homepages, including whitehouse.gov, congress.gov, ice.gov, dol.gov, and more.

A new study of 1200+ foreign news IG posts in 2022:

All outlets except NYT most often framed foreign news as entertainment. NYT's most common framing was political/social.

"The little international news American audiences do get through their Instagram accounts may lack substance."

SOURCE REQUEST 🚨

I'm working on a @niemanlab.org story about what’s come of media companies' 2020 DEI promises.

How have newsrooms' DEI priorities changed over the last 5 years? What impact have DEI initiatives had on journalism/journalists?

DM me here, on Signal, or email ([email protected]).

A new paper analyzes 2015-2018 content from 12 Sinclair-owned stations purchased in 2016-2017.

It finds that "once a station is purchased by Sinclair, its volume of climate change reporting drops...and the public becomes less aware climate change is happening."

I always learn so much from the incredible @meredithdclark.bsky.social.

We chatted last month about why Black Twitter exists and how its story is part of journalism history.

Her first book, We Tried to Tell Y’all: Black Twitter and the Rise of Digital Counternarratives, is out now!

NEW: A new paper looks at 11 years of climate coverage in 7 major Spanish-language newspapers in the U.S.

The study found that although the stories were published by local news outlets, most were focused on the state, national, or international level.
