The war in Sudan isn't only a power struggle between military factions, but also an attempt at silencing those who dare envision a future for Sudan rooted in democracy and justice, argues former nonresident fellow @hamidmkk.bsky.social in this earlier analysis.

New paper out! In the @fiia.fi BP I analyze the war in Sudan from the perspective of the shifting international order and its implications for conflict dynamics. I argue that the term forgotten war, albeit stemming from understandable frustrations, is ill-suited to the conflict. So is proxy war. 👇
The war in Sudan is not a “forgotten war” but rather a highly internationalised geopolitical battleground, reflecting old peacebuilding failures and key implications of the shifting international order for conflict dynamics, @katariinamustasilt.bsky.social writes in the latest FIIA Briefing Paper.
