BTW, that new “cake batter” glazed teacup is so fantastic. It doesn’t hold as much tea as you think it would because the glaze is SO THICC. 😁

The Northwest Tea Festival was wonderful! I saw so many friends I lost touch with over the last several years. I bought too much tea and teaware but no regrets. Folks seemed to enjoy my two tea bar sessions.

I’ll post some more about it later. I’m recovering today with Old Ways Tea Osmanthus Black.

I just want to know where I can get my kid’s ADORABLE shirt in an adult size. 😍👻💕

I leafed up hard on this one—9g in my largest gaiwan ~140ml—because it was the bottom of the bag.

Wish me luck! 🤪

Gov. Spencer Cox also signed a bill encouraging teachers to be armed at school.

I’ll continue to hold out hope that this event will make the GOP look inward and reconsider their dangerous 2A propaganda.

Camellia sinensis report:

It’s so happy now that we’re back to cooler temperatures and even a little precipitation in the Seattle area.

Those flowers are POPPIN’! 🌸

I did it, fam. The kids are back in school. I’m foggy-brained and bleary-eyed after an intense week (and intense months of caregiving).

Here’s an imperfect slow-mo pour of an aged Tie Guan Yin, supposedly from 1998. Whatever the year, it tastes and feels beautiful.

Now, I rest.

Happy Labor Day, USA! 🇺🇸

Don’t forget who runs this country. (It’s not the oligarchs.)

Power to the People! Thank you, Labor Movement! ✊🏻

I’ve been prioritizing more book reading this year. It’s hard to get started sometimes with screens pulling at my attention but once I do, it feels like wonderful self-care.

_Know My Name_ by Chanel Miller, the victim in the Stanford r*pe case. Brutal, shimmering, and important. Transformative.

I really couldn’t resist the @haymarketbooks.org 40%-off sale. I bought DRM-free ebooks for my Kobo! 🥳

#ThrowbackThursday Cosplaying Seraphim from Megatokyo, a web comic, at @sakuraconofficial.bsky.social 2003.

Fun fact: the staff thought I was the real Sarah, the wife of the comic’s creator and inspiration for Seraphim, who was a guest that year! 🥰

I’ve begun my journey into Final Boss Level for People Pleasers.

(The paint sample card’s name is an ironic accident when I reached for a book marker in the wee hours of the morning.)

Outraged by the GOP calls to arrest state Democrats?

Get involved in your local government, in your local elections. It’s good medicine and maintaining a healthy democracy at home in your town is the first step.

Also, don’t forget to vote @kurtforkirkland.com and Shilpa Prem before tomorrow. ☺️

Yessss! I get to enjoy it before the end of summer, too!

I realize I’m late to the party on this one but this is a crushing and shimmering memoir. One of the best books I’ve “read” (listened to) in the last few years.

If you’re interested in self-liberation and standing up to the system, this is the book for you.

lol! Look at what I just found while I was digging around my tea stash! 🙈 Ask and ye shall receive?

I have too much tea. 😅

Oh look what arrived in my mailbox at the same time!

Floating Leaves Tea Lalashan Hongshui and GABA oolong, and a gorgeous ethically-sourced calcite crystal that I bought when I was half asleep in the middle of the night.

It’s been a month and I guess I’ve needed some support. 🥵

Here is my statement about it and how I voted.

One thing I love about having young children is when they leave me sweet surprises.

My 6-year-old left a soft blue bird’s feather on my tea table sculpture. I found it while she’s at day camp. What a sweet surprise at teatime. 🐦

Summertime at the tea table.

Cultivate Tea’s Black Oolong (via Anxi, Fujian… a heavily-roasted strip-style oolong).

I decided to flip the script today and find summer’s inverse in the brewing process: winter.

These are my cozy winter brewing implements with a tea I’d prefer in the colder months.

Found this dried twig of camellia sinensis (tea) leaves hanging by a thread from the bush in my yard. I sat with it for a minute and realized I have naturally-dried tea leaf! 😆

I might try an experiment of further sun withering and then brew them up, or keep them near my tea table. 💚
