Hi I'm Max and I draw and write. 25+|he/him|EN/PL/JP OK
Mostly labru-centric, contains occasional nudity
It always surprises me how few people pick up on him being a gay man also. His interactions w/ the men around him are really interesting in that context and I wish it was taken more seriously tbh. These are patterns in the text itself, them not being outright stated doesn't change that

Him being Kinda Autistic is obvious enough to most people but I think it ends up overpowering the interpretation sometimes tbh. Him being a white man really affects his interactions with characters like Shuro (it's quite literally the root cause of their conflict!)

Anyway my point is that Laios being fat is both canon and important to his character so I think it's valid to be annoyed when he's depicted with a more standard lean muscular body type. It's not a Falin situation where it's mostly just headcanon it's literally intentional in canon lol

Laios' body is particularly important given his past struggles with taking care of himself before he reunited with Falin. He was skinny and malnourished and weak. Now he's well-fed and healthy and he makes sure others are, too. That's what his argument with Shuro was about. Also this with Kabru:

If you don't see the difference between these two body types, then I dunno what to tell you. It's pretty obvious to me. From the preview, which just showed the belly, I wouldn't have guessed it was Laios. And again, the comparison is with his body BEFORE the CANON weight gain!

So, basically, the above illustration is the *skinniest* we've seen him during the story (outside of the succubus attack lol). This is our reference point for what Laios looks like pre-weight gain, and even then, he looks perfectly average, with a bit of padding around the midsection

Now, some time later in the story, he says that his armour "shrank", while in actuality he just gained a little bit of weight. By the end of the story, it's acknowledged that due to his insatiable appetite, he's probably going to keep gaining weight for the rest of his life

This is Laios at the start of the story, acknowledged to have a pretty healthy body. He's got a decent balance of muscle and fat - you can see his abs but they're not super defined, and he'd got a bit of a muffin top above the waistband of his shorts. He's got a wrestler build, basically

In canon he looks constantly stressed and anxious because he's in a world-ending situation and feels it's his responsibility to save everyone from the same kind of tragedy that he's the survivor of. I don't think he would also act like that in a happy relationship with a guy he loves
