It's been a rough stretch in my tiny corner of the world, but we just had a gorgeous morning out with the kid, the weather is *finally* turning, and I am sitting on the back porch in the cool breeze writing poems with my dog and my beloved while the baby naps. Grateful for this small perfect moment.

Also #artsky I gotta tell you, the jumbo Crayons are worth getting. It's pretty fun to buy kid's art supplies and just go nuts with zero pressure to make anything presentable.

Friends, I cannot stress this enough: the book is *hefty.* It's a cinder block. A genuine tome. Like, look at this thing.

Got my copy of @casswhit.bsky.social's "Wolf Devouring A Wolf Devouring A Wolf" in the mail today and the double meanings and form of the very first piece had me banging the table and yelling "POETRY!!" at my befuddled husband. So excited to spend some time with this book.

I picked up @jestintzi.bsky.social's "Junebat" years ago, and I'm kind of glad I waited to read it until now, when it feels like I *need* these poems. They are aching and tender and gorgeous, and my god, the last lines!! A gift, this whole collection.

Things could be a lot worse though, and writing that post was the impetus for looking up the Wikipedia page for tiddlywinks and discovering the most fun terminology list I think I've ever seen.

Chilling with my kid, listening to the Twin Peaks soundtrack and reading on a drizzly day. Doesn't get much better than this.

On the one hand my car died just now, halfway through my week of PTO. On the other the staff at the dentist (where I had an appt before I'd planned to get myself a little treat) are letting me sit in their AC, and I brought Alice Notley along. Could be worse!

Maybe it's because I've read these books hundreds of times at this point but I'm increasingly convinced that Jon Klassen is one of the best writers around.
