Didn't realise he was from Newcastle! These stories never fail to make me uneasy.
Come with me back to my hometown of Newcastle for a truly chilling poltergeist case. It's 1997, and a house of disaffected goths are about to experience something that really will make their hair stand on end😱👻😱

Folks, a famous author isn't ever going to contact you out of the blue to offer you literary services. It's always a scam. Also, speaking as an at least semifamous author, you wouldn't want any services we did offer, we're just barely handling our own shit, much less anyone else's.
I've now heard from 3 authors targeted on X by a scammer impersonating Lois McMaster Bujold. Bujold impersonator refers author to "Eleanor Wood at Spectrum Literary", also an impersonation. Goal: to sell editing svcs. Scam is impersonating multiple authors & agents writerbeware.blog/2025/11/14/i...

#WriteCBC task from @jessicabull.bsky.social: Write an exchange in which a character says one thing but communicates something else entirely. Allow your narrator to draw their own conclusions as to what is really being said. Extra points if you make it festive!

In Finland they’ve been taught how to spot fake news as part of a critical thinking curriculum since 2014 including how to spot a doctored photo, check for inconsistencies as well as countering misinformation that sows division. We are more than 10 years behind on this.
School pupils are to be taught how to tackle conspiracy theories, spot 'fake news' & root out misinformation. The Daily Mail, ajudged by Wikipedia to be an unreliable new source, is furious. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to work out why.

Mine's full of spelling mistakes, I'm sure, as I had 2 minutes between meetings. This is a fun task.
#WriteCBC tip from @unheimlichmanvr.bsky.social: For me, a story’s setting is as important as any protagonist. By teasing out the little details, you create a vivid sense of place. When it comes to the supernatural, even an unconventional setting can be infused with a subtle sense of darkness.

#WriteCBC task from @rowancoleman.bsky.social: One way to imbue authenticity into a character is to discover their secrets. What memento do they keep in their beside drawer? Write a scene involving this memento. What subtle secret does this reveal? What does this tell you about the character?
