Context: Donnie has been on TPN for months and has a moment of curiosity with a baby potato that doesn't end well. A scene for my WIP "I Am Not An Organ Donor" where Donnie's entire digestive system is destroyed and non-functional after merging with The Technodrome. ❤️‍🩹

A baby potato disappeared in Leo's mouth. Donnie was captivated watching the stutterstep of his jaw as he broke through pal red skin then cut into soft fluffy flesh.

Mikey roasted potatoes and root fruit to the perfect tenderness every time. Firm enough to cut cleanly in half with an enameled edge but not so squishy that the whole potato was a bug with its elytra stabbed through its softened back.

Leo ate potatoes like they were a chore. In, sliced between his teeth, chewed, swallowed with a sip of guilt. He ate his food by whatever he disliked the most and tried to leave what he loved the most behind. Across from him Casey ate a little bit of everything with every forkful. Trying as many combinations as he could before his plate dwindled away to nothing. Concentrated, calculated, and never sure of his next bite.

Then there was Donnie. His dinner trickled into his chest through a tube hidden under a hoodie. His hands folded around a mug of hot water and orange flavored miralax. Leo chewed. Casey crafted bites. Mikey shot worrying looks at his phone for Raph to check in.

A misstabbed potato escaped Leo's fork and bounced off the salt and pepper shaker towards Donnie. Leaping and bounding over the hurdle of his wrist and landing in his lap.

"Oops, sorry D," Leo shrugged, fork spinning in his metal fingers.

Donnie numbly grabbed the butter slick potato and hid it in his fist. An idea bloomed in his chest. "I think it's on the floor."

"I'll get it when I clean up the table-" Mikey said, latching onto Casey's wrist before he could drop to the floor for it.

Donnie didn't know what he was doing when he excused himself to the bathroom a second later. Just that he started with a potato in his fist, then in a napkin in his pocket, then he was smudging the controller for his Spider Shell with greasy fingers. Maybe he just wanted to eat something again. Cut his teeth into flesh. Feel oil on his tongue. Feel the bite of pepper and the dryness of salt. He thumbed away pocket lint and smoothed the skin where Leo's fork had marred it. The shine was duller now and the body was tepid.

Bringing it to his lips locked his jaw up tight.

His throat seized before it even brushed his lips. The smell of the buttery potato filled his mouth with honey sweet saliva that he couldn't spit and feared swallowing. He accidentally crushed the potato in his fist as an updraft of ice paled his scales and slicked him with sweat. He thought maybe a bite would quell the compulsion in his mind. That he could chew and work the potato around his mouth for a minute. Feel his saliva souping up his prize. Maybe he could remember what it felt like to have his teeth coated in starch, maybe feel a skin wedge between his molars just to remember how good it felt to take it out.

His chest pounded at the mere thought. His stomach twisted. Yellow fuzz squished out between his boney fingers. A wish at the table: All too real now alone with his ill-gotten contraband.

When he opened his fist he was still breathless. Fingers twitching and covered in crushed potato. Why did he get such a dumb idea? He asked himself over and over while yanking toilet paper from the wall. Pinching guts off his hands. Unable to stand the wet warmth of smashed food between his fingers. What had he been thinking? What if he hadn't just chewed? What if he broke and swallowed? Would it get stuck behind his sternum. Rot in his belly? Clog his intestines until Leo could snake another camera down his belly? Why did he even want to risk it?

His thoughts were the wind outside. Rattling his windows and asking him what if they randomly flew open.

What then? What would he do?
