A bunch of frantic people in a cage before a judge. A woman looking on in horror as her boyfriend and another man laugh loudly at the situation. If this looks uncomfortably familiar, keep in mind that the writer and artist in 1950 thought it was dystopian fiction. When your reality looks like dystopian fiction to a Cold War paranoiac, you may be in trouble.

Dr Pippa Pepper and Dr Good rush into the waiting room of the weird little hospital on the Isle of Wight. But lo, the patients have all been expertly triaged by their new locum, Dr Percy Dan Ocean. He uses a wheelchair. Dr Pepper calls him Locum Ocean. You see what we're up against, here. After his latest time-travel jaunt to the 1880s, Nigel has a new girlfriend, Cathy. She decides to travel back with Nigel in his machine, which unimaginatively looks like a police box. Nigel's worried about Cathy's device - until she points out that she's carrying it in her handbag. It's all part of an ongoing saga about the aliens who live in Brightling (near the Hastings battleground), and their friend Nigel, who is a direct descendant of Brightling's famous pyramid-builder, Mad Jack Fuller.

1931 Raleigh. If only all lorries were this size, cycling would be much more enjoyable. (It's a tricycle.) An American van disguised as a bomber complete with an iconic 'I've a slutty girlfriend' style pictures by the window. (Americans: it's a red pickup, circa 1940, very snazzy, with a pin-up girl logo on the door, wooden guard fencing in back, and white side-wall tires, including a side-mounted spare. Chrome bumpers complete the look on this beauty.)

Bluebottle's dad's cousin was a member of a Lancaster bomber crew that went missing in WW2. During the unfolding saga of the salvage of the remains from the IJsselmeer, the family visited Arnhem. We got photos - and Dutch kids on a tank! h2g2.com/entry/A88078...
THAT bridge in Arnhem, the 'John Frostbrug, which is of course the bridge over the Rhine that in 1944 was the focus of Operation Market Garden, one of the most famous battles of the Second World War. Unfortunately as we walked along we discovered that the path along the Rhine was completely fenced off –we could not get to the Bridge as planned, which somehow seemed appropriate.' Schoolkids whose teacher was 'ordering them to all climb on top of a Sherman tank for a school photo. I couldn't help but feel that this was completely different to the UK, where the approach would have been to shout at any child who so much as touched a tank.'
