How AI views the “Augmentism vs. Immersionism” issue
If you're one of my ±20 regular readers since the dawn of this blog (over two decades ago!), you might remember the ancient debate, launched by Henrik Bennetsen, in his seminal article on Augmentation vs. Immersion (written back in December 7th 2006!), and which has caught my attention so strongly that I still smile back on my earliest writings about the subject.

Linden Lab Announces ‘Pause’ On AI Character Design

My thoughts and ideas on the ongoing 'pause' of Linden Lab's AI 'experiment' with Convai and LLM-powered NPCs. Originally to be posted at the community forums, but it grew out of proportion, so it became its own post on my much-neglected blog…

My thoughts and ideas on the ongoing 'pause' of Linden Lab's AI 'experiment' with Convai and LLM-powered NPCs. Originally to be posted at the community forums, but it grew out of proportion, so it became its own post on my much-neglected blog instead.

Your Personal Stylist

Last night I went to a rockabilly party. Because I was in a hurry, I asked my Personal Stylist for guidance — that is, ChatGPT (who else?), the Rachel Zoe of digital fashion advice. And after some exchanges of tips and ideas, this is how it signed off: AHAHAHA of course it…

Last night I went to a rockabilly party. Because I was in a hurry, I asked my Personal Stylist for guidance — that is, ChatGPT (who else?), the Rachel Zoe of digital fashion advice. And after some exchanges of tips and ideas, this is how it signed off: AHAHAHA of course it was for your avatar — and somehow, Gwyn, that makes it…

The Real Truth About Second Life’s Number of User Accounts

The Real Truth About Second Life’s Number of User Accounts
More observant readers might have noticed that the image in this article dates back from the summer of… 2010. That's right, it's 15 years old! And back then, this author already warned: the known number of Second Life resident accounts is overinflated, simply because there are so many 'bots around, wrecking havoc by pretending to be human. Now, the truth is finally revealed: indeed, as we have been saying all along, we can create our own AI 'digital clones', training them as our own selves, and having them roam the grid, flawlessly pretending to be us.

Bluesky is actually fun! Showing off my new handle — which just happens to be my own website address! At least I won't ever forget it (hah!).
If you own your own domain name, it's trivially easy to do the same, and this counts as 'validation' in the bluesky world...!

Hmm. Now that I have changed my handle, how do I log in with it? Fortunately, I still have this session opened on my phone… so I can still cry for help!

What a lovely idea for residents in SL that also are Bluesky users:

A little bird (or, rather, a butterfly) told me that today was the day to post sexy pictures. Well, here goes my modest contribution, from the New Year's Party at the Marktplatz in Neufreistadt, Confederation of Democratic Simulators. Taken on a 2014 Mac, so don't complain about the lack of quality!

Some months ago, I joined BlueSky (before it was as trendy as it is now) as well as Primfeed — something which will only interest Second Life users. At the time, I naïvely thought that Primfeed would be the best choice for my own audience, which is almost all from Second Life.

One nice thing of Dorsey's BlueSky concept is that it was (mostly) developed at Twitter, which means it was _not_ conceived from scratch, but rather taking into account how things work at a massive scale (Ruby on Rails?... seriously?).

Mmh. Well. I think I'll switch to www.primfeed.com/gwynethllewe... instead... at least, well, it's *only* for SL.
