Sorry, I'm just not convinced by these "The Conversation" opinion pieces. This one implies that Labour are working on one issue only and we know that is not the case and also that some flawed polls and media manipulation implying unpopularity in a previous opinion piece has become fast in this one.

I agree. It is not a Tory austerity budget nor a Corbynite everybody gets free everything budget so the people who want those budgets whine and moan. This budget is a good incremental step forward on the road to fixing 14 years of Tory ruin. Those whose income depends on clicks will not say this.

Same.

However, there is a remnant empire superiority racist bunch for whom the Tories were not racist enough but were the only ballot option available - now they have a voice and are emboldened to speak. Sickening!

Hmm, food for thought.

There is something rotten about the state of British journalism at this moment in time. When a tiny extremist political party gets so much coverage then we have to assume that the UK media is corrupt.

Agreed. Also, in some/many cases, you can't put the roof on before the walls as it were. Plus, concrete foundations are boring and not newsworthy.

I have 2 YouGov accounts. One where I say I vote Labour. The other I say reform.

The reform is constantly asked to participate in polls. The Labour account almost ever.

YouGov is a con.

Are they projecting a fall in GDP because of climate change I wonder?
How reliable is this projection and is there any non-political point to making it anyway?

^ is an edited AI generated answer to the question 'who said polls influence rather than gauge public opinion'

The idea that polls are used to influence rather than gauge public opinion has been discussed by Peter Hitchens and Thomas Michael Norton-Smith, who suggest that opinion polling is a marketing technique adapted to politics, and its success is measured by its ability to influence the public.
