Bonus: They made us dead last to board so we can’t even ASK if someone wants to switch seats because it’d be way too burdensome. Terrible customer service with no compassion/empathy.

Well that's helpful! I hope they stick to their timeline. Our STM was delivered over ONE YEAR late (27 months total). Wishing you better luck!!

5. And on the collaborator side, Jay Green of the Ni Ni crystal growth group at UCLA will show magneto-transport & ARPES measurements of a very interesting triangular anti-ferromagnet system containing (heavy!) Europium.

4. On Thursday, Kuan-Yu will show our Current-Tuned STM experiments that use an external in-plane driving current to tune the CDW phase coherence in a protoypical quasi-1D Peierls system: Either enhancing CDW phase coherence or lowering it through phase dislocations.

3. On Tuesday, I will give a talk demonstrating the capabilities of our open-source software PyAtoms for quickly simulating scanning probe images of 2D materials, charge density waves, & moire systems. I'll also discuss how I use it in my Solid State courses.

2. On Monday Morgaine will show STM results on applying HUGE amount of strain (~13%) to charge density wave material NbSe2. It's so large we convert from 2H to 1T & using atomic-resolved spectroscopic imaging STM we can visualize the gap closing & phase reversal.

The key difference is the boundary condition: By physical intuition of how an ideal fluid would flow past a boundary, the normal component of the velocity around the sphere should vanish (cf. conducting sphere where its the potential that vanishes). 🧪 #AcademicSky
