Intel retiree dabbling in software and security. Mostly, I'm here for the snark, and the bird pictures, definitely the bird pictures.
I'm dreaming of a squirrel filled Christmas.
With every feeder that I fill.
May your days be merry and bright.
And all your Christmas dreams be squirrely at night.

Forget about the elf on the shelf. I'm worried about the squirrels reporting back to Santa. I have not been as generous with the peanuts this year.

I have the same problem with my Subaru. The only way is to turn the volume to 0 and let the radio "play" all of the time. I've wanted to hack my car to get it to remember the mute state across starts.

And if that personal account is in a personal system with AI. That AI has ingested national security information. Seems like a properly crafted query could get it back. 🤫

I don't think we are there....yet. there's clearly a path, but if each of us chose to care for someone insteading of fearing them, I think you would see resilience in the face of danger.

And more important, what do we do to counteract it? I'm deliberately choosing acts to show love and support for all my neighbors and those i interact with, hoping those acts tug us back from the brink.

I disagree in general and agree in specific. For many years, "the cult of the gun" has believed that America is a failed state or soon to become one. That cult is clearly increasing. At what point do we reach a tipping point where that deranged dream becomes a reality?

It's the reason that I call Groundhog day "The most romantic day of the year." The males emerge and the are "Looking for love". But the smart females are still asleep. So, it's basically a bad single's bar scene that we celebrate.

Not just one, nor a hundred, but a thousand likes to this picture.

It's usually the males that come out of hibernation first so they are probably saying "I'm not cold, you're cold, I could do this all day!"

I benefitted from other people feeding the ducks. Completely unrelated to me, I promise. I did find out that if you just wave an empty hand the ducks there are conditioned and will come closer.

I would give it a hundred likes if I could.

"Grandpa got out in the street and started shouting things. Don't pay him any mind."

And don't forget the Groundhog carols
🎶🎶
Silent night Groundhog night
All is calm,all is quiet
Round yon burrow we gather at dawn
Raise the marmot on high-igh
Raise the marmot on high.

Groundhogs have a form of hibernation. In early February, they begin to emerge for the breeding season. But males emerge first. So what you have is a bunch of horny male groundhogs wandering around; making Groundhog Day the most romantic holiday of the year.

Reading your skeet, I had to go look it up. There have been a number of Martian calendars proposed, some with leap sols and some with leap weeks. Really cool
