I can’t see why it would be, and yet it keeps happening. Same thing in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. It was several months and more than one attempt before it was fixed.

I had a poke around and it does sound like it should work. I formatted the old Switch and added my own account to it, will give it a try and see what happens.
