But that's not important right now...

OSS DB (Postgres) person by day, into science and SciFi at night. Following global events out of necessity. Atheist.
(I block any bot, troll, shill, antivaxxer, trumper and other reality denier following me.)

No. If media had gone all in on the lunacy of anti vaxxers we wouldn't be staving of effing measles in 2025. I hope this massive "free birthing" scam is highlighted every day until all the influencers behind it earning money off of it go bankrupt, get ridiculed and derided and expelled from society.

Unless you know it to be authentic (aka: human) engagement, there's a very good chance you're seeing botnet behaviour. Filter followers, report bots, but most of all: do not "stop being you" because of it. That's the goal of the bots. Silencing people.

The credibility of all your statements took another nosedive with this whitewashing of "a deal".

Can you honestly look (European) children in the eye and say you've achieved something here? They will be paying the price, not you and this "deal" is completely insufficient.

But was it? 🤔

War crimes should be prosecuted fully.

"Imminent" on what scale? Within the lifetime of a human qualifies, I think, geologically speaking.
"Runaway warming": if the net energy influx into the earth biosphere is growing and the curve gets steeper, it is "runaway" if nothing slows it down and CO2 ppm is still growing. Rescind his degree.

Russia soon won't have money to buy anything, as long as the sanctions are applied rigorously. Anyone in europe hoping to eat from that "trough" "after the war" is delusional.

In other words: SRM will be needed anyway to keep the planet livable for the foreseeable future and earth will become unlivable (not just to humans but large swaths of the biosphere) if nothing is done. Physics won't be denied.

"Privatise the profits, socialise the losses" is a more general pattern across industries including energy, banking/financial institutions, "core industries" (metal works, telecom, aviation/transport, etc.)

Depending on how they define "popular", maybe show them the Lock Picking Lawyer channel on youtube (4.5M subscribers). Remains "faceless" for at least a decade now. Downside: before long no lock around the house is safe anymore.

They've been using dystopian scifi stories and history books as manuals for a while and AI seems mostly a convenience for the "operators" to more easily manage their sock puppets and their public, I think. The speedrun towards fascism as state religion continues.

Met een 'n=49' en onduidelijkheidover hoe de groepen zich in andere aspecten verhouden is dit wel een dingetje. Ik ben benieuwd wat nader onderzoek oplevert.

I'm your "will help you move" friend, not your "will help you move a body" friend. 🤷‍♂️

Taken directly from The Culture series, no original thought detected and even then "misinterpreted" at best. Completely on brand.

I wish it wouldn't have to be so. I really hoped the world would be better by now, especially for women. I'm sorry.

That was quite enough rant for a Sunday afternoon. Cheers! 8/8

why data must be managed very strictly on a stack with a trusted API that provides for the correct primitives for data to be effective, reliable and secure as seen from the applications running against it and their end-users. 7/n

guarantees around ACID because ultimately, neither the platform nor the database are really important. They merely provide the primitives for the quality and availability of data access. That's why I think a data centric outlook is so important and because it is difficult to truly understand 6/n

Deployment methods. Organisations want to be able to deploy 'everything' in the same way and that single aspect is overruling many other considerations, forcing platforms and the software running on them to find compromises and new ways of working together that still provide the essential 5/n

more suitable for stateful workloads like RDBMSs. I've predicted this pattern in 2018 when presenting to a customer who were already asking about databases in containers. So why are we doing this? Because K8s/containers/microservice models have forced another part of the ICT landscape: 4/n
November 9, 2025 at 3:09 PM
ultimately designed and developed for stateless applications. All the fighting being done to get RDBMSs to run on K8s ultimately come down to very deeply rooted mismatch that people are trying (sometimes quite desperately) to overcome with workarounds that then get integrated into K8s to make it 3/n
