That poor woman. And her partner is a goner too I am sure. The families will have an awful time getting autopsy results and justice for their children. I wish them all the best.

I remember that book well. For 8-year-old me it was fantastic. Fuelled a love of reading that has lasted me my whole life!

I think he's just playing for time. No way NG actually gets built

We should all be composing limericks, ditties, slanderous mambos, to aid in the resistance

Those dogs sure are cute but if they cannot live without surgery we should make them illegal to buy or sell. Frankly dogs should be better regulated anyway - I see too many dangerous ones here in Toronto.

Please word that one a bit better Star! I know it TECHNICALLY works but...

Given TPS's attitude (to be fair, shared with most road users) towards these scofflaws I feel they might enforce this sort of requirement with the sort of rigor we have not seen from them in many years. So it'll work! I say bring it on, slow those clowns down, it's safer for all of us.

It's all the kids that got angry because they didn't learn how to READ well, I think. The ignorati in all their glory

Well, NDP, get your act together, because you're going to be the whole voice of the working class from now on. Do I regret my vote? I regret being forced into the position of making it.

Carney's going to fuck the workers and the poor just as hard as Mulroney. Slowly moving back towards feudalism

I think watching the K9 episodes was the start of training myself to suspend disbelief while watching non-kids' TV. I don't remember him being able to fly until Tristan so how did he get all those places with Tom??

Hi Ben, loved IMB's stuff (and IB's) and all of yours so far (6) and I hate the me-and. Love everything else though so am still recommending your books to every reader I know, thank you

Absent congestion pricing we're looking at removing on-street parking as the #1 way to get more roadspace but the issue is simply too many cars for the city. I had to stop driving because it was turning me into an asshole and how many people have the OPTION? More transit, so more can join me!

There's an example even I know! I must say we did have to reach back rather a long way for it, though, almost 100 years ago. And this was a man used by Stalin for Stalin's political ends...did he attain his position as top scientist because of his science, or his political usefulness?

Next WC will be the worst-attended ever except for perhaps Russia. Many people won't travel to the USA nowadays and 2026 is going to be worse than 2025. I would not be surprised to learn of player/team boycott announcements in the coming months. If there are enough WC 2026 may not happen at all!

Now do it on KOBO, thanks!

Toronto Star employs the noted conservative Jaime Watt as a writer and frequently publishes pieces by him. That's because the Star is now owned by wealthy businessmen who support conservatives - so take their political commentary with a giant grain of salt, I'd say.

The elite figured out in the 70s, they'd given too much power to the people (in the postwar years) and decided to roll it back to the 1930s. So we got Reagan and Thatcher and a whole host of Roger Stone types behind the scenes and here we are. Rich people just didn't like seeing poors get ahead.

And WORSE is the way Hamas is kept in place by outside forces, so as to control the narrative. Palestinians don't really get to choose their leaders. They're just pawns, being used.

You can try this litmus test very easily - just ask the person if they drive every time they leave their home, or not. When you realize just HOW MANY people drive everywhere, every single trip, you understand how they feel. They've invested a lot in their cars, they must drive, to live "normally"

I don't want my tax dollars going to bail out condo investors, whether they be individuals or corporations. Carney, do not listen to the lobbyists telling you they need their piece of our taxes to cover their bad bets. You'd never bail regular homeowners out if OUR home prices went down!

I'm a big reader and have read many of your books, heck I've got 3 on my current list and your new one pending. Reading this short piece leads me to believe you might have other books in you that might be worth writing, books about topics you haven't covered. Thanks

Dougie can't tell you how much because his pals haven't told him yet! They want to see how much money he "saves" from cutting education and healthcare, and take that into account in their billing. It's going to be a lot, though, and the files will be as secret as he can make them in the meantime!

The owners of this country are the same people as everywhere else - and the "experiment" with educating working class people has been adjudged a failure by them. So they're doing their level best to destroy public education and replace it with good old religious indoctrination, to get obedience.

Just look at their url!!! I'd never trust anything from someone who called me an INGRATE whilst telling me to go and do something, honestly, such rudeness
