Guys guys guys, I found the archive of the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures (it's not an achievement, they've not hidden them) - you can watch every single one since they started televising them in the 60s:

I love watching them every year, now I can see them all!

I don't know if @dieworkwear.bsky.social knows who on earth Morcambe & Wise are (legendary in the UK) but you gotta say those suits are a delight.
Genuinely had no idea this record existed until two minutes ago but now... I covet.

Meet the destroyer HMS Glowworm. In April 1940 she was forced to fight the German Heavy Cruiser Admiral Hipper, ten times her size, and Hipper's destroyer escorts.

Her extraordinary last stand earned her captain the first Victoria Cross of WW2. In part because THE GERMANS nominated him for one /1 🧵

Aurora visible to the naked eye near Cambridge, as a pale red / purple glow across the northern horizon. An 8 second camera exposure reveals more detail of the structure. First time I've seen this, an amazing sight.

Today I was introduced to what was described as the Worst Plot In Exoplanet Science, and frankly, it is a work of art
