look, i get that it seems ridiculous to spend $30 for two-dozen colored pencils for a 4 year old but, hear me out here, you have to sharpen them like 1/10th as much, they last forever, and you never have to worry about sharpening only to break the lead or find out the lead is already broken inside

he’s building a private army accountable to nobody except himself. i cant believe some people still are not accepting this. it’s only a matter of time before he unleashes ICE on dissidents and dems are just going to ask judges for rulings as if the people with the guns care

the social security wage base is the level after which you don't pay any more social security tax on the marginal dollar earned. it's adjusted every year and its currently $176k per-W2 you receive. For reference, that's about the 90th percentile for a 35 to 44 year-old with a college degree.

excluding covid layoffs, the number of dollars collected for social security tax withheld is growing at its slowest level since 2018 on both an aggregate and per-payroll basis.

i just finished reading The Puppets of Spellhorst and The Hotel Balzaar to the toddler. Supposedly they are for kids7+ but I read them to a precocious 4 year old. These are books for people who love reading. The stories have depth and there is a lot of room for the reader to ponder make connections

couldn’t sleep so i made a new pillow case for the toddler, who has recently graduated to a big kid bed (a twin).

fwiw i think EV should have additional adj that makes them cheaper than ICE when small and low and violently expensive if heavy and tall. their acceleration makes them absolute death machines bc ppl treat every stoplight like a drag race. we need to govern acceleration more than max speed imho

anyways, while running stuff through seasonal adjustment I did this. it's link-up listings created or removed. some people are posting misleading charts suggesting plummeting job openings, but creations look fine, it's just removals were very high. that could be hiring housekeeping or seasonal noise

It's the season where headlines try to convince us the economy is crashing because of seasonal changes in delinquency and charge-off rates for cars and cards but, if anything, US auto is getting better and US card is not getting worse anymore. ignore the headlines, they do this for clicks every year
