Unnecessary, fun systems.
Graphics are stored not as an array of pixel colours, but pixel indices to a "skin" graphic. Allows just this skin to be updated and all animations reflect the new colours. Also left/right asymmetry can be kept no matter flip direction! #indiedev #gamedev #picotron #pico8

This week in untitled stealth ninja platformer. Improvements to light/shadow, some camera work and player animations. Next I guess some kind of gameplay maybe? Games have that right?

Cool #pico8 feature used in my game. The screen can be split vertically into two separate palettes. I use this feature to give different levels completely different feel/colours.
Here you can see a good example when I was working on it of the same level split into two palettes. #gamedev #indiedev
