I went to school in the UK between 78-92. I saw it too. It’s partly why I think it’s such an effective weapon against Farage. Because we remember.

Sounds horrible. This is a test of how intolerant we have become of that sort of racism. The left believed that the battle was won. Even Tories had moved to apparently more enlightened positions on, eg, gay marriage. But this test is of the electorate’s ability to stomach genuine, nasty prejudice.

I do get the point you’re making - and hold on to the view that showing the cruelty he meted out to vulnerable children is worth sticking with - while the various witnesses are happy to take him on making it all the more personal.

While it is true that it is a line of attack, the personal and lasting hurt he caused to a child is the real story here. My view would be that this is why it *is* cutting through when all the “he’s doing what Nazis did” stuff didn’t to the same extent.
