NBC Sports will cover its 25th #KyDerby, and only one person on the broadcast has been there for the peacock network for all of them. (And, yes, lower-case peacock since we’re not talking specifically about the streaming service of the same name — that didn’t exist in 2001!!)

As a UK student, I covered then-Lt. Gov. Brereton Jones’s race for governor for the Kernel. I also covered UK when he was governor, and then we met again when I covered the horse business. The intersection of politics and racing always is a fun story to write. #KyDerby

Tappan Street Out of KY Derby With Condylar Fracture
Florida Derby (G1) winner Tappan Street is out of the May 3 Kentucky Derby after exiting an April 26 workout at Churchill Downs with a condylar fracture to his right front leg. The injury is not life-threatening, according to Brad Cox.
