1/2: Donna Kennedy Glans wrote in today's National Post about my thoughts on democracy and working collaboratively with the government; and about my recently released interim report of the Economic Growth Council.

1/5: The PM announced the end of the mandated Electric Vehicle sales policy that compelled consumers to choose EVs (or potentially pay a $20,000 premium for an ICE vehicle).

Conservatives have been pressing for an end to this ill-conceived coercion, and applaud its termination.

1/4: StatsCan reports that Canada's GDP growth in November was 0.0%. Zero. That follows a decline of 0.3% in October.

GDP measures a country's prosperity. Per capita GDP measures individuals' prosperity. Canada is lagging far behind other countries in both measures after 10 years ...

1/5: I spoke to Bill C‑19 (Groceries & Essentials Benefit) and why it fails to address Canada’s growing affordability crisis.

The bill boosts the former GST credit this year, but reduces support in future years even as grocery prices continue to rise.

That's a wrap on the CPC convention. Calgary Centre & Yellowhead ridings hosted a great hospitality suite at the Palomino, featuring Tom Olsen and the Wreckage. On Sat, my co-chairs & I presented the Report of the Economic Growth Council. More on that later.

Chatting with delegates at the Conservative Party convention early this morning, at the beautiful new Calgary BMO centre. Our city is doing a great job of welcoming over 4,000 Canadians, many of whom got a taste of Calgary's night life last evening.

1/2: Words are just words. Real progress requires action. Conservatives worked with the government last year to pass C-5 which gives the Prime Minister incredible power to move infrastructure projects along quickly - but so far, nothing to show.

Food #inflation in Canada continues to rise even as other G7 countries see relief. Families cutting back, students skipping meals, and businesses fighting to stay viable. These pressures are real and growing. It’s time for solutions that address the causes and ease the burden on Canadians. #cdnpoli

If you are interested in a thoughtful take on PM Carney's speech, this is from MP Michelle Rempel Garner.
Different points of view do matter. Constructive, honest critiques are how we actually move debate forward and get a better outcome for Canada.

Havel would have demanded more from Mark Carney. Canadians should too.
On Carney's Davos speech - words are important, but action is what matters now.

1/4: Another month. Another higher food bill. PM Carney invited Cdns in 2025 to judge him by prices at the till. That price keeps going up and up. Food prices in Dec 2025 over Dec 2024 are up 6.2% overall.

Some examples of healthy food that is becoming less affordable (all are year-over-year):
