the SkyTrain is one of the best decisions we ever made as a region+province, and it almost didn't happen; there was a ton of "expert" pressure to build ground-level non-automated light rail instead

Unfortunately folks I think I have to give up on all other municipal progress, become a one issue voter, and that issue is a soccer stadium six blocks from me. Selfishly I might have to vote for Ken Sim just so I can maybe enjoy tailgating in New Brighton Park someday.

Happy 40th birthday to Skytrain, as loved as it is still underrated in how much weight it carries to make our region not just another suburban sprawl wasteland.

Frozen pizzas on sale forever is how the Westons keep the listless single men of this country from revolting.

Moment of reading the name in a news post and realizing that literally NO ONE in western TV media was saying the name of the Hong Kong tower complex with the massive tragic fire because no one wanted to say “Wang Fuk Court”.

Every origin story of a UK electronic music subgenre is like “there was this record shop in [non-London lesser city] and [three pioneering legends of the genre] all worked there”

Need a separate Translink high priority alert account I can turn notifications on for to get messages like "SKYTRAIN IS FUCKED AGAIN, TENS OF THOUSANDS OF LIVES RUINED" but isn't posting "Route 739 to Buttfuck Langley has a one block detour"

Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of Costco in Canada, with the first location being in Burnaby (I assume Brighton Ave?) www.cbc.ca/archives/the...

Costco? What's that? That's what The National explained to people back in 1985.

As a Halloween prank city council should approve one zoning-non-compliant building every year in late Oct.

First went to a game in 2011. Regular fan going solo in the supporters section since 2014. Still went through the rough years because in the end it was still fun enough. Finally get the dream year. Do Canucks fans know this costs $40 or less? #vwfc

Damn my closest weed store is finally out of vape carts after weeks of the distribution system being on strike. Save us mediator Vince Ready!

The only “Canada’s team” I will accept is the Jays. The Jays are Canada’s team, even when the Expos existed.

Matthew Good told me what this city would be like through his lyrics and I still moved here, no regrets.

Also, notice Trump's complaint here - about the news, about Kimmel - IS NOT anything to do with Charlie Kirk.

It's that he was personally criticized.

He's not even hiding it! That's what this is all about. "Are you allowed to criticize the president?"
Headlines on the Bloomberg Terminal from Air Force One:

*TRUMP: TV LICENSES SHOULD BE TAKEN AWAY IF BAD PUBLICITY FOR ME
*TRUMP: IF TV SHOWS 'HIT TRUMP' SHOULD BE DISCUSSED ON LICENSES
*TRUMP ON TV SHOWS CRITICIZING HIM: THEY'RE NOT ALLOWED TO

I’m not going to make it to 900 rides by the Lime Vancouver anniversary of Sept 12, I’m only going to make it to 870-880 or 2.4 rides per day.

I’m at Port Moody Brewery Row, in line at Rewind and there were two older guys behind me. They asked which breweries were best. Without getting into subtleties I said “Twin Sails and Moody Ales”. One said “then why are you here?” “Because it’s my third stop!”

Sim is so washed. He clearly hates the job and only ever wanted to say he won. It's hard to believe a worse mayor than Sullivan could happen within 20yrs but he did it.
Ken Sim's office is now claiming that his appearance at a Bitcoin conference this weekend is part of a 'personal vacation'.

He is appearing as the Mayor.

Talking about "Bitcoin and the City of Vancouver".

Which was a motion he passed at Council.

Very vacation-like!

I’m never going to complain about transit fares going up but two zone is $4 now and that crosses a psychological barrier.
