@carbon_180's bathtub graphic does a great job of simplifying the difference between reductions and removals. It also illustrates the importance of creating clear distinctions between the two. 1/2

We’re going to need an insane amount of both emissions reductions and negative emissions to reach our net zero target.

Reductions vs. Negative emissions require distinctly different approaches, but are too often conflated creating risks for buyers and project developers.

AC fixes that 💪
A new explainer from Absolute Climate - Mitigation Types.

Meeting net-zero goals means tackling two distinct challenges:
• Decarbonizing active industries
• Removing CO₂ from the atmosphere

These distinct pathways are often conflated, creating confusion and risk for buyers and developers 🧵👇

Building on the importance of independence in certification, I want to focus on why Evident is the perfect partner to bring this model to market. 👇
Whether CDR remains high-quality long term has more to do with incentives than science. When registries define quality for themselves, competition for projects inevitably leads to a race to the bottom.

Working with Evident Global, we think there's a better path forward ⬇️
🚨 Big news from Absolute Climate! 🚨

We’re thrilled to announce the adoption of the Absolute Carbon Standard (ACS) by @EvidentGlobal , a trusted leader in sustainability certification.

Together, we’re bringing **transparency**, **trust, and scientific rigor** to carbon removal. 🌍 👇
