oh also, semi-obviously-maybe, but "D" is used for the lower right wheel (as in D16) and "M" is used for the Matrix connections, as in M1t.

Maybe they wanted to make sure that "1M" and "M1" would never get confused, and so didn't use either D or M as a suffix..?
