How do you like it so far? I am waiting to receive my first one, but as usual with my island life, the parcel is stuck somewhere for 2 weeks without any tracking update.

A true communist. Already asking the people for money :D
It will be surely great for those around you.

You are comparing apples to oranges. Also, at least 2 of the "old" maintainers were never removed from the project and anyone is still free to contribute should they want.

I am biased, since I know many bad stuff about him for a long time, but given the above, I don't see how can someone trust him.
But regardless, the good news is, gem.coop can be an alternative for those that want to trust him.

But would you trust Andre delivering your code? He proposed to sell the download the data and he tried multiple times to fund his work by sort of extorting funds from companies. He also changed passwords after he was being fired.
October 18, 2025 at 2:27 PM
In general no. The way he did it, is not my cup of tea.
October 17, 2025 at 7:43 PM
If they are not getting paid for it, they won't. That's the kind of open source Andre was doing.
October 17, 2025 at 7:37 PM
I would, but only unpaid. I got a lot from Ruby, and it is nice to give back sometimes.

Sorry to break the news, but I am responsible for my own feelings, you can affect them.
October 10, 2025 at 10:19 PM
I am not the one that wants the other to "fall off the face of the earth".
October 10, 2025 at 10:14 PM
And you would surely like the consequences :)
October 10, 2025 at 10:10 PM
But I am the one that doesn't want others to exists, right. Got it!

I really don't get why you guys start to behave like this when someone talks to you respectfully. I wonder if you would speak like this in person too.
October 10, 2025 at 10:08 PM
I brought some sanity and diversity :) You should welcome that.

It depends on what happens. We could just use this opportunity to help Ruby Central to become better, but some rather want to use this to cancel DHH and blame everything on him.
I haven't seen people offering to volunteer help to run rubygems. That would help the community more than anything else.
October 10, 2025 at 9:55 PM
Not you, the message above yours said it all happened because of DHH.
October 10, 2025 at 9:44 PM
White supremacists? Coming from a group of white males :D
October 10, 2025 at 9:42 PM
How is that DHH's fault?
October 10, 2025 at 8:25 PM
It even more numerous people think that those people are wrong.
October 10, 2025 at 8:24 PM
I might be the one misreading, but if you read the whole section, to me, it sounds like they are talking about the personal data they collect.
October 9, 2025 at 9:56 PM
That's not the gem data, but the personal info they collect as far as I understand.
October 9, 2025 at 9:52 PM
Sorry for adding to the workload.
