It is Monday, and this weekend's Predator: Badlands movie inspired me so much, that I've decided to completely rework Lucius' Spider Beast Form in Land of Gold. 😈

- His hooked, bladed legs has venom that is a parasite which takes over a target’s nervous system – think of an arm attacking the rest of its body. - Grows a special organ in which spider eggs gestate. He can vomit them out, and hatch dog-sized spiders. He eats them to heal. Limited use. - Has acidic spit corrosive to all non-magical surfaces. - Can perform a magical mark through a morse code with his eyes – with a specific open-eye pattern, the target’s vision and consciousness is filled with terrifying hallucinations of himself. Completely disorients the target and opens them up for a kill. - His eyes can also map out the colour composition of the environment he’s in. He uses this to spin silk from his body that functions as a ghillie suit – rendering him practically invisible in the environment he hunts. - Can leap great distances. - A thin carapace covers his entire body, with the strength of iron. - Much greater pain resistance. - His fur is also a trap – it functions as extremely strong glue when grabbed or attacked. - Powerful bite that can splinter bones. - His divine blood combusts into flames, in the shapes of the Words of God, on Satanic targets. The flames never go out. - His tendons and nerve system can be spun into silk – he simply has to stab parts of his exposed body with his chisel. - The silk can be spun into whips that immobilise targets on the spot, or whips for environmental navigation.

Working on my Land of Gold novella the ENTIRE month of October absolutely exhausted me, so I'm taking a break from everything Bloodied Rose-related. However, this has NOT stopped me from having world-building ideas... 😈

The Iron League is a terror made material for any slave trade system in the world. They are a small fleet of carracks that hail from the Still Ocean, whose waves never move, and whose colour is purest iron. Their crew is made of ex-slaves, slavery abolitionists, and disciplined vigilantes, armed with finest gunpowder and arms and armour made of Moonsteel – a metal, magic-negating substance that often coagulates in the very waters of the Still Ocean. The Iron League’s steel-plated, twin-cannoned carracks are powered by a combination of solar energy and Moonsteel golem entities that function as ship engines, while housing the mortal remains of any Iron League Fellow that has perished on their missions. The very memory of slavery, its wrongness, and the necessity to destroy it – known as The True Cause by the League crew – powers the golems to action. The True Cause is what makes the Iron League terrifying. They do not rest, they do not waver, and they do not sport mercy. If a slave system is notified to the Iron League, it will be destroyed with extreme prejudice.

He stood in her shadowy forests and the grey, titanic massifs that lined her home, where he met her for the first time, and was Baptised by her grand blood. She looked at him from the heavens, and she encompassed their entirety. The heavens were her canvass, her brush her own face and shawl of divinity. She beheld him with her red eyes. They darkened. Her face cracked about her eyebrows and on her forehead. The lines deepened and widened, until a shower of the moon’s crust descended onto her realm. Eight eyes. Eight eyes of vengeance, rage, and tenacity. Her smile froze, her lips quickly splitting apart into a maw of dirk-long teeth and chelicerae dripping with anticipation. Her shawl darkened and fluttered, one, bladed leg coming tearing through the fabric after the other. The moon grew eight legs and eight eyes. Pearly white danced with blood red. The tune belonged to the Hunt. She descended on Lucius with a scream.

The older designs of Warhammer Fantasy High Elves is still, to me, one of the best conceptualisations of Elves, ever. Distinctly Elven, but also distinctly unique in comparison to every other Elf.

The details of these High Elven paintings in particular are unbelievably amazing.

As Ian posted this prompt, I'm well into Land of Gold's 3rd draft, past the moment Lucius, a Shadesilk Dhampir, finally sees how the Demons of Gluttony look like in Fallowark, their hidden master indulging in their horrible, perpetual suffering.

Lucius’ lips curled. Ahead of him was an oval clearing cut into the fields, a dry ground freed from the glimmering wheat. There, he finally saw the ceaseless choir. About two dozen villagers lumbered about, lost in the heat, the pungent smell, and their work. Bloodied, often-skinless hands worked on bundling wheat together. Some stood while worked, swaying left and right, others heaved to and fro as their fingers clutched the gilded blossoms so tight, they sank into their flesh. They looked just like the man Lucius saw disappearing earlier. Gold-threaded sheepskin vests crushing their chests, and nary a muscle or fat to be found on their limbs. Their scalps were burnt red and black, sometimes peeling off as the flesh continued cooking under the sun. None turned to him as he ventured deeper into the clearing. He noted how everyone had the same, limp gait as they moved from place to place. Those who had no tools in their hands, had their wrists twisted unnaturally, as if to ever be ready to grasp a sickle or a rake. But it wasn’t them who droned into the air. None of these villagers ventured into the field with sickles in hand for the gold. They all shambled about five clumps of bodies frozen in the air. Legs were bent until the joints splintered, and arms were rearranged until the tendons snapped. Their positions were of prayer, Lucius saw. They were held aloft by gold, rooting in the earth, and crawling upwards to the skies through their bodies. The wheat grew from everywhere; golden, barbed streaks cutting through their eyes, seeping from their ears and noses, lashing out from their mouths. Nails bubbled and gave way to more gold, their fingers long wisps of the harvest. They weren’t desiccated at all, unlike the victims he saw in Pavel’s church. He narrowed his eyes at their healthy skin, well-fed bodies, and the shrieking joy in whatever has remained of their eyes. Were it not for the wheat coming out of them, their mouths were twisted into happy grins.

Very pleased and determined so far! After much concept rewriting/reworking and redoing combat choreography, I finally began writing the 3rd and final draft for my WIP on Thursday! It's been a while since I wrote THIS much in just a span of three days, and will be continuing today and tomorrow!

Her fingers traced where her home’s name once was. Her eyes darted between the gouged chasms were individual letters have been proudly carved in. She couldn’t recognise any; a fist, and a chisel, hammered them out with such ferocity, the depths of the holes made her shiver. Only one word remained. She recognised its elegant, playful curves, set upright by a hand whose dead, stilted temper made her take a breath. Each letter was widened, so that one’s entire attention was commanded by the name alone. She touched the new, crude widths of the letters F and O. The wood was hot on her fingers. FALLOWARK. She felt like the name threatened to splinter everything underneath its weight. It made her take an uneasy step backwards.

Today, I've refined all of the concepts that will be used in Land of Gold. I only need to redo one more final choreography for a combat sequence, and I can FINALLY start writing the 3rd draft!

As for what awaits Lucius...

True Form [redo]: The Maven of Gluttony’s True Form are the skinless, almost formless Demons turned into a bloodied sludge in its lair. It can grow to any size and strength as it deems fit, indulging on the horrible suffering it has cast upon all its victims. In its True Form, it moves very quickly, practically gliding on the wet surface. Can materialise within the cave as well. Its own head is the Pentagram of Gluttony, so it can cast Gashes instantly. Its body is a literal weapon against Lucius, its long, serpentine neck included. Being close to it in general is great danger. The lair too, is a weapon that it can fashion as it sees fit. The True Form’s weapon of choice is a cardinal staff. It’s ornament is the Landlord’s head, surrounded by half a dozen tongues that constantly devour it, while it constantly reforms. The staff itself is made of the Wilted Bloom’s stalk, coruscating with the Inevitable’s energies. The Landlord’s head never stops weeping or screaming. The Landlord’s head is perpetually famished. When stuck on Lucius, it’ll pin him down with its teeth while trying to eat him. The True Form is garbed in a cardinal’s attire that constantly flows, twirls, and ripples in the air. It’s made of the victims’ screams and agony. A Gash that bathes the Maven in all the agony it caused, making it look like rain is rolling off it. Just looking at the Maven in this state will cause Lucius’ soul to burn and paralyse him. Can’t look at it at all. A Gash that turns its stomach into a maw that unleashes a cone of the Inevitable’s energy. If it touches Lucius, he dies. A Gash that heightens Lucius’ feelings of melancholy, regret, and pain, to the point that they turn into spectral shapes trying to rip Lucius apart from the inside. A Gash that turns all the Damned into a cacophony that twists and deforms everything Godly of Lucius’ Cleansing Form, weakening him significantly. A Gash that widens all of Lucius’ wounds, bearing Stigmas that attract any and all Demons around him to them, wanting to get into his body and devouring him. A Gash that turns the Landlord’s head into the Womb-Mother, fooling and deluding Lucius. A Gash that turns all the Damned into a misshapen copy of himself, laughing at him so hysterically it literally frays his nerves and fumbles his combat capabilities.
