With Spring around the corner, Mothers day creeping up, and Easter on the horizon, we will be looking at indoor planting activities over the next few weeks.

Our recent Better Together sessions have proved that a little rain doesn’t slow us down! Despite the weather, the group have been busier than ever and full of creativity, teamwork, and muddy-booted determination.

Our stunning #FridayFlowers is the beautiful early crocuses that we planted at Stones Place last autumn and are now starting to come through. Crocuses offer welcomed spring cheer in borders, seasonal containers or planted in lawns to create colourful carpets.

The participants have been hard at work painting and decorating number plaques for our veg beds at Hillside Garden. They have done some beautiful drawings that will really brighten up the garden (and make finding the right bed a lot easier).

A hardy, evergreen perennial, that thrives in dappled shade, perfect for planting under trees and shrubs for winter and spring interest. Their pink, purple to white flowers often patterned are a joy to see.

Gardening tip: Bark chippings on garden beds are an eco-friendly solution to suppressing weeds. It also helps reduce water loss by reducing evaporation and, over time, will decompose and feed the soil. (A special thank you to Oscar and the rest of the team for wheel barrowing loads of the stuff!)
