These changes mean that more forests will stand. More wildlife will survive. Our endangered wildlife and threaten ecosystems all have a better chance because of this reform.

But Australia still hasn’t ratified. If Australia acts now, we could propose one of the first high seas sanctuaries in the Tasman Sea. If we delay, we risk being left behind.

This only happened because millions of people around the world stood up for the ocean. Together, we showed that when people unite, governments act. For over 20 years, Greenpeace offices around the world have campaigned tirelessly for stronger ocean protection.

Everything we love is as risk. Deadly heatwaves, rising sea levels swallowing up our coasts, coral reefs and forests disappearing, and their unique wildlife with them. Communities will be forced to move. People and nature will both be pushed to the breaking point if we don't act now.
