Green Party County Councillor. Lifetime farmer. Husband, dad, and grandparent. When they are older they will ask what did I do about climate change.
Yes it's worrying. If you can't talk about adaptation, you could be still in denial.
Just mind-boggling that climate breakdown isn't even mentioned in this piece

Despite the fact that it is driving more powerful storms, higher sea level, bigger waves and more intense rainfall

People - apparently even the reporting journalist - still don't get it

Taxpayer money has flowed into fixing the rail line connecting Cornwall with the rest of the UK - but the elements have other ideas.

Laws restricting abortions linked to rise in 'abhorrently high' maternal mortality rates

But when it comes to debating their ideas? No show.

Richard Tice pulled out.
Farage won’t face me.
Now their candidate in Gorton & Denton has ducked our candidate Hannah Spencer.

Sadly I think this is true.
It's disturbing to see how Gordon Brown has whitewashed his reasons for reappointing Mandelson, and his own role in eroding democracy. Mandelson's official business was similar to his unauthorised scheming with Epstein. Don't let them rewrite history.
My column.

There is a lot of convenient amnesia about Peter Mandelson’s New Labour days. Let’s jog some memories | George Monbiot

As floods and storms hit the westcountry, we should be calling for national government to put on a televised emergency briefing on the #ClimateEmergency
A friend pointed me to a post on social media of a letter by Kerry McCarthy MP (Labour, Bristol East) about a request for a televised emergency briefing on the #ClimateEmergency

I was stunned by how casually the idea & its urgency were dismissed. Let’s unpack why this response is so wrong-headed 🧵

Punitive taxation will keep fossil fuels in the ground. Support the Global Tax Treaty.
Fossil fuel companies have got away with ruining our planet & making taxpayers pick up the cost.

The Global Tax Treaty must put the burden on fossil fuel companies that have caused the damage.

This will generate twenty times more electricity than the previous wind farm on the same area. The dismantled turbines had operated for 32 years. In every one of those years the Greens were told that they are well meaning but foolish to think that renewable electricity is viable.
Ireland has dismantled its first commercial wind farm to make way for a step-change in scale. Each new turbine generates more power than the entire 1992 Bellacorick site, illustrating how 3 decades of innovation have compressed land use while multiplying output. buff.ly/goiabIO

Look at this chart from @ember-energy.org on UK wind+solar generation. Total levels of generation are up massively over the last 5 years and the monthly levels are remarkably consistent. 'What happens when the wind doesn't blow?' is a challenge, but it is not a big a problem as many people suggest.
