Yes, when batteries are discharging at this scale, it’s arbitrage. Responding to frequency events needs batteries to be fast, but it doesn’t usually require a lot of energy.

Mostly because imports/exports can happen at the same time, so if we add those labels, it would be net imports/net exports. Net exports would overlap with actual fuel types, which makes the charts messier than necessary. Instead of adding net import/export labels, we include that data in the text.

The dispatch down data isn't available yet so we can't say for sure but it's certainly possible: we examined a couple of weekends during October and found this to be the case for significant parts of those weekends. More in our newsletter!

A small share of rooftop solar generation feeds back to the grid; more commonly it satisfies households and businesses' demand, and that impact is already reflected on the chart, as rooftop solar generation lowers demand from the grid.

Usually the evening discharge levels are higher - this week’s price situation is a bit different from normal patterns we think. Should be more representative next week especially during the upcoming cold snap.
