Is Stephen King unethical for publishing and selling books as Richard Bachman? Are people who don't like King's books being deceived if they buy and like a book published under the Bachman name? He's making money from them, after all.

If WGA was a failure, I'll admit I'd probably be much less forgiving. However, the product has been good, the releases have been timely, and the customer service has been excellent. If you were already a customer and happy with the product I would encourage remaining so.

But still, the business license stands. The business relationships stand. In my mind this isn't that different from a pen name used by an author. Both are selling a creative product, and they put that product out under a name they don't want associated for whatever reason.

What this indicates to me is that his business and industry partners were willing to trust him and give him another shot. People in a better position to know what happened we're willing to stay quiet, and that speaks to the validity of his claims.

While he probably won't speak to this, the answer is likely yes. His name is on the business license if you look it up, Spikey Bits knew, and with so many business contracts there's no way this would have been kept secret in a way that is unlawful in a business relationship.

The temptation to just pack it all up and move to the EU increases every day. Wholly impractical in my circumstances, but it's always there. It would be nice to have rights.
