These are ordered by most views, not necessarily by how much you all love the course. There is 1 course that is closed, and 1 from out of state, the rest all are in Michigan.

This place almost became homes in 2025. But after that development fell through, the owners now say they are going to keep this as a golf course, and start reinvesting into its future. 1st step was new maintenance equipment.

I’m giving away the theme today. It’s an embarrassment of riches for the state of Michigan. Your only job is to guess the names and the order. See the replies for entries 4-10.

This course had a seemingly good location, nearby to a major resort and just down the road from a hidden gem public track. I don’t know why it didn’t last longer. My only guess is that 9 full holes and 18 executive holes wasn’t a draw for the seasonal tourist crowd.

I just learned that this was only a 9-holer for over 80 years and didn’t expand until 1989. I’m curious to know what was in the 2009 master plan and what’s been implemented so far.

“Reminiscent of the private clubs of the twenties” according to the website. Who among us doesn’t reminisce about the Golden Age unwalkable routings surrounded by housing developments and roads with names like Sawgrass Drive?

Given that they were built probably less than 10 years apart, I’m fascinated by how different these nines look. Normally when you see this big of a difference, the construction gap is more like 50+ years.

You know what is fun for a mid-handicapper? Hitting greens. You can do a lot of that here. Fully approve.

Yet another snow day with the kids at home, so I don’t have much commentary to offer. Except that I continue to be surprised by how many golf courses are in the town where this course resides.

There are two courses at this resort, and I’m not sure if I’ve seen as drastic of a price difference on one property as here. This course is often half the price of its neighbor.

I couldn’t find the famous quote, so I’ll have to paraphrase: The only place where you can tee off on the 1st and a friend on the 10th, and you can have a conversation for the entire round.

The namesake feature of this course cuts right through the middle of the property. Rarely do you see that kind of synergy in a state with a lot of golf courses called Rolling Hills, Fairway Meadows, and the like.

Two facts - 1) A plane crash landed on this course. 2) A GLL follower has a master plan in place to restore this design by an all-time great.

These courses don’t share a region, but they all are named after the same hue. I’ve only played the first, and it was one of the most unfortunate courses that I played in high school competition.

1st image is a repeat offender, 2nd is the 620th course to be featured. The 2nd is family built and owned, and after 25 years they decided to purchase the course 5 miles down the road, that being the first 1st image. A family golf success story?

It wasn’t intentional, but I last featured this course 2 years ago to the day. I’ll always check out courses by this designer, although the website’s obsessive focus on presenting it as a “full-service club” with “tour-like conditions” does give me some pause.

I’d probably play this even though the routing is mental. I’ve played a course that circumnavigates a lake before. But never where multiple holes are paired off into twos like this.

I’m pretty disappointed I never got to play this course. There is an oddness to the playing corridors that makes me think it might have been incredibly unique.

Not the most appealing aerial I’ve ever posted. But it’s the golf that counts. Brendan from GLL gave this an above average 5 rating, so it’s officially on my radar.

There’s a weird symmetry or something going on here that makes it look good from above. The course isn’t amazing, but I’ve always enjoyed playing it. Likely because it was almost always with my dad and his friends.

Originally designed as a reversible routing, this course was slated to have that routing restored. Instead, it’s now on track for a fate even worse than closing. It’s because we live in the Bad Place.

You can’t tell from these aerials, but these properties actually share a SE-NW corner boundary. For the latter, the par 3 course appears to be closed as of several years ago. I can’t tell if the range is still open.

These are private courses, and membership comes from owning a house in the nearby area. I guess they would be good starter courses, if nothing else.

2025 may have been the last year for this place, per its facebook page. Too bad, there are multiple design disaster candidates here that would have been fun to see in person.

I got to walk around the site back in August, and played it maybe 10 years ago. It was unique but never great. They say they want to reopen someday, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
