32/He - Just readin my comics and vibin
For @phantomarine.bsky.social 's 10 year Phanto-versary! An art comm by @artbyriana.bsky.social. It's called "Running out of Time!". I feel like Riana knocked all the character details out of the park for this one, I had a lot of little deets!

Seems like it really is gonna go that way!

Really enjoying the idea of my Hunter being well-adjusted to conversation and working with a bunch of more recluse friends. Just constantly trying to break the ice and nodding at their proclivities.

as a heads up, the Nigh Heaven and Hell Vol 1 might need a fix to the download link! Sends to a "view page" at the moment

The DotL 10th Anniversary print arrived in my mail! Incredibly excited to add this to the wall! Glad I snagged one of the fancies.

DotL packaging strongest there is. Gets kicked and keeps on kicking. @megsyv.bsky.social thanks for 10 years of free wonderment ✨

A comfy addition to the green poster corner of my work from home space 😎🍹

Also dived into their work on Monster Lands. It's hard to pick a favourite page! The quick chapters inbetween the story heavier ones always make for fun moments. 4th wall adjacent gags. Also does a good job of giving you a backstory nugget as you go. Plus caring a bit about each side!

Been enjoying @jamesnelsonart.bsky.social 's stories and sense of humour. Puffer & Clarissa is going to be a treat as we see the main character struggle against the parental yoke of her somewhat-villain mom more. Good mix of light dialogue with an impending doom, pure-evil ruler in the wings.

Kelly Bull (@kellysketches.bsky.social) deserves every view and dollar for this eye-latching pieces👏. I've read it through multiple times and it always does a great job of mixing the light with the heavy in story tone. Protagonists you can hate in the moment AND route for! Always a mix

There's just something about your main character getting dropped from the sky early in a story and having to deal with it that sings to my soul. Blame Myst and Cyan Worlds, honestly. Also LOOK at these chapter covers I want to DIE. The locales that they go through FULL of life for the story world

Time to gush on things I haven't yet. Vainglorious! Have you read it yet? Because holy cow, what a time. The left image is the zanier kind of reactions and panel movement you can expect to get in the story ALONGSIDE a strong main arc. The right is one of many pages that had me instantly.

Burying the @'s again as it's backlog. @megsyv.bsky.social and @feathernotes.bsky.social both have killer stories! In uh, more ways than one. 😅 Studio Cartridge (of which Krispy is half!) also just put out "Lunar Blight", and Meg has a fun addition in "Kaylee has a Slasher Boyfriend".

What I probably love most about both stories is that each as a great page that would leave any prospective reader going, "How the hell did we get HERE?". I'd share a certain other page of GJS but it's too big of a spoiler 👀

From the backlog again, I've got a fantastic group piece done by Krispy (feathernotes)! It features cast from Ghost Junk Sickness and Daughter of the Lilies (megsyv) having a good ol' tavern arm wrestle. I love how in the moment it all feels! Both stories have great characters 😊.

I always love the story element that Serin raised Suzi from birth. The pack animals in this universe act as a larger part of the family with a notable intelligence. Suzi is having to handle newcomer "Dija" with... grace. Which can be a lot with her zealousness. Dija gets to have her arc 😅

For new stuff today, Riana Dorsey who does "Suihira: The City of Water" finished this great piece in acrylic gouache! Suzi, the trusty pack animal of the main troupe. Suihira always does a great job with letting the page tell the story. No redundant exposition, and the landscapes are worth it!

Burying the tags in replies as I transplant backlog, but thanks again to @yokoboo.bsky.social for taking this on and @miloneuman.bsky.social for having such a cool story opener! Every character has a great way of being eye-glued-to-screen engaging the moment you meet them. 👀

This piece was done by Yokoboo! It's wooden mask and neck guard armour are in the spirit of Milo Neuman's "Dimitra and the Silver Mask". The story's onset has these masked raiders in the night taking on a drowsy fort, and I instantly obsessed over them. The end of chapter one is BEAUTIFUL.

There are so many great examples to choose from but I hope not to spoil the story. The tower one with "Lord Sylas" kills me every time. It's not only great use in-frame -it makes sense with the amount of space left on that particular page. Matches the speaker's mannerism's, too. Stiff as a board!

To add some new spice as I put my old comm images up, I wanna gush about comics I read as I go. Never Satisfied does a lot of things right, but I've never seen speech bubbles and tails be so natural a part of the page. It's a great thing to pay attention to as you read. Emotional conveyance!

Posting at 1 AM still counts as a daily post, right? This piece was done by Kagugle, featuring Trigger from the webcomic Ghost Junk Sickness. What messes Trigger gets into, his skinny jeans get them out of it. The man is trash but he's not the only one getting his life together in the story.

I'll effectively migrate my old images over here in time. I figure maybe a post a day or something to build the habit. I'll see about posting something new each time as I go. I've been reading an awful lot of comics lately - this list not even including finished ones. I'll have something to gab.
