I hold the unpopular view that a large percentage of voters just pick the candidate that they find more charismatic

I think this is at least partially due to the global nature of social media. Antisemitism was always higher outside of the US, and before the rise of social media US kids weren't exposed to as much of it.

Connecting to your recent substack, this kind of abortion pushback would be much harder to pull off in a post-Trump GOP

It seems like the Bluesky message to centrists is "Why are you still on the Nazi site" while at the same time "Go back to the Nazi site, you're not wanted here"

I've never been a Fox News viewer. And thank you for making my original point better than I could.

I've never voted for a Republican in my life. But you'd like to kick me out of the tent because you think there are too many people who are against Trump who don't pass your purity test. This is a surefire way to lose elections.

^^^ Yes, this is exactly my point right here. This is why Bluesky will never replace Twitter unfortunately

I really wanted this site to succeed and replace Twitter, but sadly it doesn't seem likely to happen.

If all you hope for BlueSky is to be like a very online progressive subreddit, that's fine. But I personally was hoping that it completely replace Twitter as the center for political discussion on the internet, and it doesn't look like there is any hope for that at this point.
