I smelled the sweet scent of woodchips around these newly planted shrubs and trees along car-free Overlook Dr in GGP. Looks like a toyon among others

Oak Woodlands has long been my favorite part of Golden Gate Park, but only recently have I come to appreciate Buena Vista Park for its own coast live oak forest... and even more recently noticed this enormous coffeeberry shrub at the bottom of the hill

Graeber is also appropriate company!

“The ultimate hidden truth of the world is that it is something we make, and could just as easily make differently,” including our streets.

And consider what he writes of the “ugly mirror” phenomenon in “There Never Was a West,” an essay in that collection:

@esksf.bsky.social's column today speculates that Connie Chan and allies will run a doomed prop to close Sunset Dunes park, just to turn out voters for Chan.

But a good chunk of No on K voters are in congressional district 15, outlined, and can't vote for Chan.

Also, we could get rid of Crossover and Park Presidio Bypass and restore over 50 acres of park space currently befouled by proximity to highways!

2021's District 4 mobility study noted strong potential for better north-south transit to get people out of their cars, and significant demand for trips from the Richmond and Sunset to the Peninsula.

This transit gap explains much of the rage against Sunset Dunes.

Notice how the 28 19th Avenue is not far behind the 38 in crowding. (Btw, we should fix this near-term with more buses. Tell Mayor Lurie the Muni parcel tax needs to support a service increase: muniforever.org/speak-up)

Not that niche

There’s almost no single family zoning in district 5 which he represented, but this affordable housing is 2 stories taller because he advocated for it in office. He stood up to both a neighborhood group that demanded it be shorter and the YIMBY endorsed mayor that initially compromised w that group.

Protected bike lanes appear to fit the current geometry of Alemany at Naglee, with just a striping change.

Matt Dorsey just emailed out an invite to a town hall that says at the bottom, "Category: Government, Republican Party"

Just got back from protesting ConnectedSF's gala. This org's leader Marie Hurabiell tweeted that trans women aren't women and undocumented people are violent criminals. And Mayor Lurie was a featured guest helping her fundraise! Clearly, Lurie is not good at vetting people. 🧵

Lots of people enjoying Sunset Dunes. The coast belongs to us all!

Finally! Proper striping for the bike connector from car-free JFK to Overlook

What I mean by no mandate. Lurie was only the first choice of 26% of voters, barely more than 2nd and 3rd place. As a political unknown in a weak field of candidates, he managed to be the least disliked. That's it.

Shameful how the SF government has allowed the Turk protected bike lane, once a success study, to degrade.

These stories dropped on the same day

It's good-government reform to let the mayor unilaterally appoint department heads. By the way, he just appointed a supervisor who couldn't run a pet store

One way to do it: check out the proposed wealth tax rates from Thomas Piketty's Capital and Ideology, p.982. The book that made me a socialist, btw!
