Thank you, Gerry. This shot had been buried unheralded in my archive, and I came across it when trawling recently. It jumped out at me and begged for a little love.

His work isn't everyone's cup of tea (it is mine, though...), but no-one could deny his originality - an extremely rare commodity - and the influence he had on photography in the period that followed. His talk at Northern Eye showed how self-effacing he was; it was a privilege to be there to see it.

The temporary stress when you leave is nothing compared to the long-term stress of having to deal with all the nasties on there. I left X about a year ago, and barely give it a second thought now.
