This is my annual acorn collection. This year some red oak acorns mixed in amongst a scad of Scarlet oak acorns. They’ve been float tested. Now they’re in a Ziploc in the vegetable drawer for the winter to striate. In spring, we plant!

Hermes, meet Hades. You know him well and he’s about as pleased with humanity as you are.

Having lost a companion like Freya (I think I sent you a picture of her, her name’s Athena) I’ve been thinking about you daily. Such a loss. And, oh, the soulful eyes of a spaniel!! I hope there is another Freya waiting for you.

Welp, I think I finally wrestled this balcony to the ground. I’ve been working on it since mid May. My goal was to create a Mediterranean feel. Lots of mistakes along the way. Some of them in evidence. Next time around… Chef’s kiss.

It’s 1040 and there’s still no movement. In fact, they seem to be circling the wagons. These are dogs that normally race out the door at 6 am to chase squirrels. They haven’t even asked for their breakfast.

1040 and there’s still no movement from any of us. In fact, they seem to be circling the wagons. These are dogs that are normally scrambling to get outside at 6 am. I even went downstairs to get coffee - came back and they were still sound asleep.

I dread the approach of day 20. I have enjoyed this journey! Thank you Sara, from Canada.

I’m sure you read this. It’s very good on your subject.

I keep falling behind! Sadly this painting is in a private collection and rarely seen. Courbet is one of my favourites. I saw a major exhibition of his work at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2008. A phenomenal catalogue was produced which I have.

This is striking. Also unusual. Here’s my old friend from the Musee D’Orsay!

I keep falling behind you!! Here’s one from the Wallace collection in London. One of my favourite galleries. Another painting that I will always go and visit, say hello and spend some quiet time with. Fragonard, The Swing!

Ohh this is great. Speaking of artist who eyed their canvas as monumental task: Whistler. I believe he rubbed this out several times before despairing and moving on; never satisfied. Here’s my 3. One of the paintings I always take time to “visit“ with quietly. A friend.

Isn’t it? Contract with Sargent’s. To almost completely different people. Also loved your painting. But BOYdid it feel like a Whistler.

Tell that to Vancouver. Or SW Ontario! But than again, fair point. Yet, we’re still the resistance! Elbows up. It’s a real thing! Chuck Schumer does not have his elbows up. He’s not fighting for control in the corners. Canada knows how!

Hi America. 👋 Here’s a day in the life of your typical Canadian. We get up in the morning. Bonjour!!! We have a nice breakfast of pancakes and maple syrup. We watch some hockey highlights from the night before. And then we head off to work. And this, folks, is all we do - ALL of us. 👇

For the lovers of antiquities. These four gorgeous items are all ancient Cypriot clay vessels and were gifts to my father from the museum of Cyprus in the early 50s. So we have provenance. They are all thousands of years old and exquisite.
