But _if_ you want to leave earlier, often there is mutual agreement of earlier termination, b/c companies might not want to pay you for either having resigned mentally or learn about more company secrets in your last months.

The rejoining of previous company should be possible, because they would be in probation, where they would have only a short notice period of 14 days. Probation is usually about 6 months.

Non-competes are only legally correct if they come with a renumeration, i.e. the company needs to pay you while you are on non-compete (IIRC, half of your salary is minimum).

A few points: The 3 months in Germany are legally binding after 8 yrs of employment. Often there are specific clauses in the contract for a mutual longer period before (also means the company cannot fire you without the period).

Note that the flag they have is "Order your Tesla online" in French -> its a sales pitch, no relation to AI for Good. And today Tesla announced the Grok integration. There are so many interesting projects that want to better the world in the exhibition hall, but this is cynical.

Thanks for the background story. I was already surprised by the self criticism that the UN greenlighted when I saw your keynote. Seems that was not really what they intended.

There is an interesting thread right now on LI from SW engineers that got hired to fix problems with vibe coded products and how much effort that can be to bring it up to high quality. Someone suggested "vibe debt" as a new term.
