My grandfather, born a little over a decade after the 14th Amendment was passed in 1898, was the first generation of his family to be recognized legally as a citizen in the country where he and generations before him were born. This is how proximate I am to this question.
On birthright citizenship, lots of hot takes here. Mine, it has been simmering near a boil for more than a decade.
