Yes, should be doable. Our tech just washes tissue many times before starting DNA extraction to avoid any fixative. We did it few times and always worked.

The initial CR cell density and the rate of their disappearance varies substantially across different brain areas during development. It turns out the hippocampus is not the only region where these cells survive for a long time! Where else do they stay? (No spoilers..just check out the paper!)

We applied a new labeling strategy to investigate the distribution and persistence of #Cajal-Retzius cells throughout the whole mouse brain, at four different postnatal ages. (Huge thanks to Rob Machold, at NYU, for the awesome mouse line!) 2/3
