Compare these images with those of L l melanuroides from Japan www.instagram.com/reel/DOuYs0A... - images taken N Lincs August 21sta nd 29th 2010 and suggested at the time as L l m by RM at B World but mag folded before it was moved forward - forgot it until seeing images linked above -

As the worst autumn migration ever grinds to it’s inevitable birdless conclusion maybe time to reflect what we have done to the planet or just take up knitting which does have a positive end result

This 1cy male Hen Harrier had found a rough field full of voles that would probably have kept him going all winter then today the farmer came in and ploughed it - poignant shots of him taking last voles from said field -

Gave in and went for the Black-faced Bunting - two in two years could they become common - looking at this bird some must surely have been overlooked if they don't call

Good old Environmental Agency: in summer this had 17. Feeding bird territories in bramble and scrub totally destroyed along with all signs of the natural world: it is embarrassing to have ever had anything do with them

February 2015 - after a snow trip to the Cairngorms diverted to Aberdeen for the first-winter Harlequin - a long stayer I had it all to myself all morning - have seen 100's in Canada and Iceland but the only one in Britain - a bird I used to gaze at in my old Peterson and never dreamt I would see

last night c 12000 Pink-feet flew over Barton heading to their Humber roost on Redcliffe Middle Sand - the sunset was impressive but the big flocks only came after the light had gone
