My reading recommendation?

“My American Journey” by General Colin Powell

His writing helped me learn that loving your country doesn’t mean lying about its history – and I find that pretty relevant now.

Maryland once served as the capital of our country at a time where American Indians were forced into the margins of our society.

Today, American Indians help our communities thrive in a way we could have never imagined.

We’re going to fight this with everything we have.

In Maryland, we don’t bend the knee. We stand up for our public servants.

It’s about to be a cold winter, and many Maryland families rely on federal programs to heat their homes.

One of those programs, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, is being delayed because of Trump’s federal shutdown.

ON DAY 38 of Trump’s Federal Shutdown

Here are three new actions we’re taking to rush support to people:

1️⃣ We’re launching a second round of loans for essential federal employees working without pay.

The Trump Administration doesn’t give a damn about our public servants.

Madam Speaker, thank you for being one of the most effective leaders of any party in decades and paving the path for generations through your incredible leadership.

You will always be a proud daughter of Baltimore and we honor you today. God bless you and enjoy your much-deserved retirement.

Crews are already making progress on rebuilding the Key Bridge – working around the clock to restore a cornerstone of Maryland’s economy and the Baltimore community.

From supporting Marylanders who rely on SNAP to delivering on business investments, we’re proving that — even while under attack from this administration — we CAN and WILL deliver wins that grow Maryland’s economy and make life here more affordable for families.

Good news: Baltimore’s homicide rate is continuing its downward trend, dropping 31% compared to just last year.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again: We will explore every avenue possible to make sure Maryland has fair and representative maps.

Polls are open from NOW to 8 p.m., so grab a friend, head to the polls, and make YOUR voice heard!

Today, I’m announcing the Governor’s Redistricting Advisory Commission.

I’ve been clear from Day One: If other states are determining whether or not they have fair maps, so will Maryland.

🚨 Reminder: TOMORROW is Election Day in cities throughout Maryland!

If you haven’t voted yet, be sure to make your plan now so that your voice is heard – and remind your friends and family to vote as well!

In the face of this cruel government shutdown, we’re taking another significant step to protect Maryland families and children:

I’ve signed an executive order releasing $62 million to help Marylanders who rely on SNAP benefits put food on the table.
November 4, 2025 at 2:31 AM
Yep, Maryland sued the Trump Administration – and we w̲o̲n̲.

But the President is STILL refusing to follow the law and help feed over 40 million Americans, including around 680,000 Marylanders.

FutureCareAnnapolis is helping us grow our economy and create jobs while also expanding access to health care for Marylanders.

Together, we will leave no one behind.

680,000 Marylanders rely on SNAP to put food on the table, including:

120,000 older adults,
270,000 children and,
120,000 Marylanders with disabilities.

The federal government is leaving them in limbo.

But in Maryland, we protect our people.

Firearm homicides are down 26% since my inauguration, gun violence is down 12%, and Baltimore City is the safest it’s been in five decades.

We have more work to do, but our progress in addressing gun violence as a public health crisis is undeniable.
November 2, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Many of the Marylanders who voted for this president are unsure of how they’ll put food on the table because of him.

None of them should be left in the cold because Washington failed to do its job.

We’ve stepped up, with $10 million in emergency funding to fight food insecurity across the state.

On this day in 1864, Maryland’s new constitution freed African American slaves within our state. Today, we celebrate the heroes that resisted oppression and risked their lives bravely against the institution of slavery.

I'm encouraged by these rulings affirming what we've long said: The Trump Administration must follow the law.

On behalf of the 680,000 Marylanders who rely on SNAP to put food on the table, I’d like to thank @oagmaryland.bsky.social and all of our partners in this process for their leadership.
NEW: A federal judge orders the government to continue SNAP benefits during the shutdown, while another judge calls the move to cut them "unlawful."
Federal judge orders Trump administration to pay SNAP benefits out of contingency fund
The ruling came one day before funding for SNAP, more commonly known as food stamps, was set to lapse.
