Also I wasn’t properly dressed for a crawl. I was only wearing a t-shirt and shorts. And it’s SO DAMN DUSTY.
Plus, caves are pretty cold and wet, yknow! Hypothermia is a huge concern when it comes to caving.

Also, even at the mouth of the cave, the cell service had completely cut off.
I’d be a total dumbass to get myself stuck there, so I’d rather be safe than sorry, forever and always.

Anyways, this is my initial reaction the first time I went into the cave.
It spooked me at first, but then I REALLLY wanted to crawl through to the other side.
But I had already decided that I would wait until I brought back more people, then I’d do whatever dangerous nonsense after that.

In fact, the passage to the large chamber is so small, it would have require me to get on my belly and shimmy my way forwards, with only enough room to move forwards and backwards.

But! The actual cave itself! I ended up finding a different cave than the one I was looking for. But this one is also a similar length, around 17m instead of 12m, and it’s a self-guided cave, so it’s safe(ish).

Next, I found the creek where the cave is located. This region is always in a drought, so most of the creek bed was dried up with plenty of places to cross over.
I *really* got an exuberance out of seeing its erosion pattern.

Speaking of random caves, this county alone has over 3000+ limestone caves, so I managed to find just a few of them, and also some other things that weren’t exactly caves.
I had to climb up many tall cliffs to find these
(ps don’t climb cliffs without proper gear, I got lucky and didn’t fall)

I wandered onto the wrong trail a few times. Saw some cool things, like a random spoopy looking cave in the distance, and the kind of home I hope I can only hope own once I’m further in my career

I didn’t see many critters, unfortunately, and I didn’t stop to take many photos of them, since they weren’t the focus of this trip.

And I was carrying a bunch of equipment. One wrong move or slip, and I would have likely tumbled to my death

to get to this cave, I needed to hike through 10 minutes of mountainous terrain.
But because the cave’s location is hidden to non-grotto members, it took me a total of 2 hours to find it.
I am *still* exhausted and recovering from that hike at the time of posting this (my muscles thank me tho)
