One of the nearby neighbors said they’d never been close to anything like this—which means the troops weren’t in a neighborhood that needed more security. So pointless. Keeping the soldiers and their families in my heart.

Love that! Here are some Calochortus (Mariposa Lily) from California. Gorgeous and a little weird!

My sense of ILL is that it is generally networks of libraries across a region, but yes, it’s magic!

I travel a lot for work and resisted ebooks for many years because I love the tactile experience, but I have a hundred books with me at any given time, so I’m absolutely a convert!

I wrote down half a poem in my grocery list note so certain I’d remember the rest, but alas, I forgot I’d even written it until I was at the market days later. The rest is gone.

I was going to say the same thing. That older guy in a t-shirt and flip flops in Malibu? Rich producer.

I’ve unsubscribed from most political emails, but I do read Chris Murphy’s and he sent one about Kelly today.

True, but people calling themselves socialists without believing in core tenets of socialism aren’t helping with that. They’re not socialist programs, necessarily, they’re socialized or social programs. FDR wasn’t a socialist. Sure, it’s semantics, but why cling to a term when it’s not accurate?

Oh thanks! I agree. It’s what they call it in Europe—you know, all those places at the top of the lists of best places to live!
November 25, 2025 at 6:55 PM
And I wish we would just stop calling it democratic socialism and use the (textbook) correct term “social democracy.” Calm down, Grampa, (almost) no one wants the government to seize the means of production!!

Libby is also great. However, many indie authors aren’t represented in most library catalogs. Hoopla is great if your library has it available.

And Hoopla connects to many public libraries

And now you can’t leave it for a week without disconnecting the battery because all that computer just drains it.
November 25, 2025 at 5:45 AM
True! I made the assumption it was the same department, but you’re so right!

As long as the prize turkey is still in the window, there’s hope!

Just here to shout out that journalists don’t write headlines and are often unhappy with them. I haven’t read this article, which may or may not perpetuate the spin of the headline.

Agreed. I always, always want to take the path of forgiveness—we are none of us the worst thing we have done—but I do not think that means giving someone more power.

This. Senator or governor. I heard a rumor that she wanted to run for senator but was shut down by the president, so she knows she won’t get his endorsement (Just a rumor though). She knows she can’t win as a lunatic so her line is she was fooled too. Unsure how to feel about it—is it genuine?
November 22, 2025 at 1:22 PM
Ooh I definitely want to see those
November 22, 2025 at 1:07 PM
Oh I didn’t know it was in a new spot! I haven’t been in probably 30 years. I will have to check it out when I’m close by. It is extraordinary history!
