The Escape Club scored a week at the top in November 1988 while holding a unique accolade.

They're the only British group to achieve a US #1 while NEVER making the UK Singles Chart, let alone the Top 40.

Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam spent a week at #1 in June 1987 with Head to Toe, at least in the US, plus 2 weeks atop their Black Singles Chart. In the UK it stalled at #82; Lost in Emotion was also a US #1 the same year, getting to 58 here.

Peter Cetera made it to the top spot for the second time in 1986 with the duet The Next Time I Fall, partnered by the-then unknown Amy Grant (outside of Christian music). It got #78 in the UK, as well as being America's 28th best selling song of '87.
