Announced spec script deals are up in 2025 compared to 2024. Half the deals are comedies. The genre felt like it was pretty much dead in the spec market even a few years ago. Maybe it's a sign Hollywood believes movie audiences want to laugh nowadays. Take heed, comedy writers! #screenwriting
