My people aren't quite this bad, but I treat it like a sport trying to find the things that will tempt them into letting me spoil them. Leaving fresh flowers in the guest room for my mom, making a little cheese plate and leaving it near the TV with sports on for my dad. Little parent traps!

These are the people who will casually let drop that uncle Timmy was asked to step down as the youth group pastor and this is just like when he had trouble with the neighbor girl and you suddenly realize why his daughter won't talk to him and then they want your kid to sit on his lap for pictures.

Where I live, the growing season for most things is pretty much over. In a very practical sense people could maybe grow some fresh herbs to brighten up all the beans and rice they're gonna be eating but that's not going to save them anything.

As a Colorado parent this is an exciting idea, but I'd love to know more specifics on what regulations we're thinking about cutting for some kids. Red tape is one thing, but nobody wants more access to low quality child care.

So far, I see people turning kids toys into functional things (video game controllers) and maybe people 3d printing records for the old fisher price record player which is actually really cool.

Replacing the sound chip on these things looks like the closest thing to what I'm trying to do.

(Stranger butting in here, feel free to ignore me!) Have you checked to see if there's a pottery studio in your area where you could rent space or take a class? It's a good way to try it out and find out what you like and how you like to work and even IF you want a kiln.
