I hope you do. That's what I got out of being a fan of My Little Pony and that's what I would hope gets reawakened again in the hearts of others.

That was exactly the example that sprang to mind of not needing to explain the improbability. In fact, highlighting the improbability would have worked against what made the series good and popular emotionally in its juxtaposition of cozy small-town life and intrigue. Cabot Cove has to be "normal!"

artifice that goes into presenting only what is exciting.

Ironically, it is more naturalistic to take for granted that the character(s) keep ending up in interesting situations. Perhaps at most there can be passing reference to what is "day to day" that happens off-page.

I believe they absolutely should not. It is an unwritten but understood convention in serial fiction of improbable adventure that such adventure WILL happen repeatedly. Calling attention to the trope tends to be interpreted as being "too clever by half," by clearly underlining the...

I just finished listening to the whole thing! What stands out to me is how unabashedly expert they are at incorporating pop harmonies and devices into wider-ranging wholes. It's almost like the same larger-than-life ambition Queen had.

I don't know Seattle too well, but this seems like a more than ideal time to start writing something, anything again. You can get your brain geared up on language and start reaching for your small press publication dream!

Well-stated. TCM isn't just a warehouse of Content. The work it does placing the films it shows in historical and artistic context is utterly vital.
