i'm hoping we can get ranked choice outside NYC (and doing what little i can to make that happen) so that voting becomes even more effective

NYC has an open democratic socialist mayor now because people got involved in local politics and voted in primaries

basically: it's easy to feel like it doesn't do anything if the extent of your engagement with the process is complaining online about how it doesn't do anything

the city i used to live in enacted good cause eviction and had a cool mayor who listened to his constituents and would warn everyone if he got word ICE was inbound (large mexican population) and that shit all happened because people got involved in politics!

is it the only thing you can do? no!
is it the only thing you should do? no!
is it the most efficient way to enact change in the world? no!

but it's something you CAN do that DOES enact change if you ACTUALLY GET INVOLVED IN IT and don't just go to the voting booth once every four years
